Snore Therapy

For most people, snoring occurs when the amount of air going into the lungs is reduced.  The body compensates by increasing the velocity of air entering the lungs, causing vibration that creates a snoring sound.  Aside from disturbing others around you, snoring is not harmful.  However, it can be an indicator of a much more serious problem known as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).  This condition occurs when the airway completely collapses and blocks airflow into the lungs.  The airway obstruction lasts until your brain partially awakens you.  This may lead to other health problems, such as chronic sleepiness, heart attacks, morning headaches, high blood pressure, strokes, heartburn, depression and impotence.

At Endless Smile Dental, our dental professionals are trained to diagnose and treat patient snoring.  We customize an oral appliance for you to wear during your sleep.  This oral appliance is much like an athletic mouth guard, but with some unique characteristics to allow for continuous airflow to the lungs.  It is fitted in less than an hour, and most of our patients experience positive results from the first night.
